Pros | Compact, easy to use, travel-friendly | Excelent organization, comfortable carry, under the radar design | Easy-to-access interior, great price, nice exterior organization | Lightweight, lifelong use, large capacity | Affordable, spacious, comfortable to carry |
Cons | Only room for 1 cloth diaper (compared to 4-6 disposable diapers) | Only one carry style, expensive, annoying straps | Lacks inner pockets, straps uncomfortable | Not well structured, limited carry options | Zipper issues, not well structured |
Bottom Line | A convenient well-made traveling changer with only enough room for the bare necessities | An abundance of pockets offer excellent organization, but with difficult-to-adjust straps | This easy-to-clean and practical bag has a unique stay-open feature that makes access simple but is not as comfortable to carry | A roomy backpack style diaper bag with the potential for lifelong use, but limited useability | An affordable backpack with enough pockets to organize your daily supplies, but low-quality construction |

Our Analysis and Test Results
In 2003, parents Michael and Ellen Diamant searched for a diaper bag that fitted their needs as new parents. With no luck, they decided to create their own instead. The debut diaper bag was the Skip Hop Duo, and the company has since branched out into different bag styles and other baby gear items.

The Skip Hop Pronto is a clutch-style changing station that we love for minimalist parents and babies on the go. With it, you can change your baby just about anywhere (because not all public bathrooms are baby-friendly). When closed, its dimensions are 12" W x 8" H x 3" D, which is small enough to fit into most bags and purses. Alternatively, the changing station has a carry handle and a clip that you can strap to your wrist or stroller if you prefer to use it as a standalone bag.
The small package unrolls to reveal two inner pockets and a spacious, removable changing pad. There's even a cushion (the "pronto pillow") at the head area to make it more comfortable for your baby. The Skip Hop has an exterior zippered pocket for quick access items, and a small included wipe case allows you to pack light. During testing, we could fit four diapers, a case full of wipes, one burp cloth, a bib, one of our favorite baby pacifiers, a toy, and a small bottle of hand sanitizer into the pockets. Essentially, enough diapering supplies for a short afternoon outing, and with a squeeze, we could fit a few extra items such as keys, money, a cell phone, and an extra baby onesie.
The changing pad is 21.5" wide and 22.5" long, making it large compared to the others we tested. We love that this pack is travel-friendly and easy to keep clean. The polyester material is easy to wipe down and is free of phthalates.
Dislikes
The compact size of this bag is one of its biggest draws. However, it can also be a big drawback. You'll need to restock the bag after every outing, unlike a regular diaper bag, which you could use a few times before running out of supplies. We also do not like the wipe case not sealing tightly, allowing constant airflow to dry out baby wipes. However, the container is small enough that we think you'll likely use the wipes before this happens.
If you like to be ready for every possible scenario, the Pronto probably isn't the right bag for you. It is highly functional but only holds the essentials and no more. If you use cloth diapers, you may have an even bigger problem, as the changing station only fits one cloth diaper comfortably and does not offer a place to store dirty diapers.
Should You Buy the Skip Hop Pronto?
If you want a smaller, compact diaper bag that doesn't weigh you down, we think you may love the Skip Hop Pronto. This changing station holds only the essentials and doesn't take up more space than necessary so that you can travel light. With different patterns, it can blend well with most styles and be gender-neutral for mom and dad.
What Other Diaper Bags Should You Consider?
If you need more space to pack items, we think the Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F and Ju-Ju-Be Be Right Back are worth considering. They offer more space and excellent organization, but they are pricey. If you need something more budget-friendly, we suggest looking into the Skip Hop Mainframe Wide Open.
