The Creative Baby Tidy is a medium-sized diaper pail that has a two-sided rotating lid that deposits diapers in the receptacle without ever having to open it up to the room. The lid opening mechanism is childproof, but still easy to open with one hand when changing the bag.

We are fans of just about every aspect of the Creative Baby Tidy. This plastic diaper pail holds in dirty diaper odor better than most others in our review, releasing only a small poof when the piston drops. The rotating lid is one of the only systems to ensure there is never any direct airflow in or out of the pail, therefore preventing the stink from escaping. This type of lid also prevents curious toddlers from getting into the dirty diapers within. It is easy to operate with one hand, and the dropping piston found in the cover solves the problem of diapers getting stuck and provides the extra little push without you having to get more involved.

The Tidy diaper pail falls in the middle of the pack in terms of upfront cost. However, it uses regular kitchen trash bags as liners, so in the long run, it is much more affordable than many other pails, while performing near the top of the pack in terms of odor control. We also love that the entire lid is removable and dishwasher safe. This way, if anything leaks from the diaper, you can give it a rinse and then toss it in the dishwasher for thorough sanitization. We much prefer this method over handwashing.

Dislikes

The process of changing out a full bag of diapers is one of the pail's downfalls. You must open the lid completely, and after that, it is essentially like changing a regular trash can. There is no way to keep the smell from hitting you full force other than moving through the process as fast as possible. That said, there are no complicated maneuvers or cutting devices to this pail; it is pretty straightforward.

Occasionally, wipes may get stuck in the cracks of the lid, and you will have to fish them out. This problem is easily remedied by placing the wipes in the dirty diaper and dropping the whole package as one while being sure to tuck in any loose ends. The most common complaint among parents is the size; it is a bit smaller than many of the other pails in our review. We think there are pros and cons to this, though. On the downside, you will have to empty the contents more frequently. On the upside, more frequent bag changes mean that there will be less accumulated stink, and changing the bag will be less of a hassle.
