BabyBjorn Air Review
The Skinny
Our Analysis and Test Results
The BabyBjorn Air did make true on it's claim to keep us cooler, even if just a little bit, but for us, that little bit wasn't worth the loss of comfort we experienced. This carrier really weighed on us, with all of baby's weight pulling down on our shoulders, and we just couldn't stand to be in it for more than 15 minutes.
Why is the Air less comfortable the original Bjorn? We're frankly not sure.We were left wondering if it has something to do with the "mesh" material as we had the same experience when comparing the ERGObaby Original and the also "meshed" ERGObaby Performance. It's like the mesh just doesn't act as supportive as a stiffer-woven cotton does.
Likes
Similar to the BabyBjorn Original, the Air was a straightforward carrier to use. It was easy to adjust and we felt it supported baby's head well.
This carrier is easy to grab and go since it's so light and another bonus is that it has a little mesh bag which allows it to fold into itself for travel.
Dislikes
Like the original Bjorn, the Air's seat support for baby is not sufficient in our opinion, leaving their legs to dangle straight down particularly when in Front Carry Facing Out (this is most pronounced with older babies aged 6-12+ months).
The BabyBjorn Air we tested was white and light grey in color and we noticed it became dirty pretty fast, especially where baby's mouth was when front facing. Luckily, it is machine washable.
This carrier was uncomfortable to wear and we didn't feel baby was that happy in it either. Again, the weight limit prevents use for most toddlers.
Only two positioning options: Front Carry Facing In and Front Carry Facing Out.
Conclusion
A lightweight, easy to take along carrier that left us much too limited when it came to larger babies and positioning options, not to mention it wasn't all that kind to our already aching shoulders.
